Thesis Defense Workflow
A defense deck needs to connect the thesis to its evidence, acknowledge its limits, and leave room for questions and backup material. Start with:
bash
npx -y slidev-theme-scholarly init defense --template thesis-defense
cd defense
pnpm installRecommended layouts
- paper-summary for thesis positioning.
- experiment-grid for multi-experiment evidence.
- result-highlight for the strongest result.
- limitation for known constraints.
- defense-question for anticipated committee questions.
- appendix-index for backup navigation.
Recommended components
- EvidenceBlock for claim-evidence-source grouping.
- MetricGrid for experiment summaries.
- CaveatList for limitations and threats to validity.
- EquationBlock for objectives or key derivations.
- DatasetCard for benchmark context.
Useful snippets
Run these from the new project directory. They append to slides.md; review the added content before continuing.
bash
pnpm exec sch snippet append methodology --file slides.md
pnpm exec sch snippet append results --file slides.md
pnpm exec sch snippet append references --file slides.mdKeep appendix slides short and link them from the main deck with clear labels.
Theme mode and contrast
Room lighting and projectors can be unpredictable during a defense. Use high-contrast or classic-blue when readability matters more than branding, keep dense evidence slides in contentMode: light with chromeMode: match, and reserve sectionMode: dark for chapter transitions. See theme mode and contrast.
